General Description:
Exercise engineering responsibility for the planning, justification, and implementation of capital and tooling projects that will reduce product cost, eliminate production bottle-necks, and increase both quality and productivity. Lead and facilitate the plant Continuous Improvement (CI) effort in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity by applying the appropriate lean and/or six sigma tools to drive improvements in both the factory and office. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant.
Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other engineering discipline from an accredited institution is required. Green or Black Belt certification is highly desired.
Experience:
Position required minimum three years of previous manufacturing experience.
Prior supervisory experience is desired.
Experience with Lean or Six Sigma implementation and project management.
Experience with maintaining safety compliance.
Experience in machining and welding of aluminum.
Desirable to have custom engineer-to-order experience.
Strong leadership skills as demonstrated by previous successful leadership experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Strong mathematical, analytical and conceptual skills, balanced by ability to apply common sense.
Proficient Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Ability to facilitate and guide a team through problem solving and implement corrective actions.
Strong influencing, verbal and written communication skills both up and down.
Essential Duties:
Apply Lean/Six Sigma Tools and DMAIC process to complete projects with annual savings; provide technical expertise to support Root Cause Analysis.
Lead teams to solve problems, eliminate waste and reduce variation.
Assist in the development and implementation of the plant's capital project plan.
Develop, design and procure tooling and fixtures.
Direct efforts to maintain compliance with OSHA regulations.
Coach teams on CI and Lean/Six Sigma methodology.
Assist plant teams with goal-setting and tracking CI measures.
Maintain effectiveness during change in work tasks or environment.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Demands:
Time equally spent between sitting, standing, and walking in both an office and manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
Approximately 50% of time is spent in a temperature-controlled office with a moderate level; other 50% is spent in an industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. The manufacturing facility is enclosed and is ventilated, heated and air-conditioned.
